新西兰环境保护局（EPA）根据1996年《有害物质和新生物法》公布了关于重新评估二甲基氯的决定。美国环保署决定撤销对含二甲基氯的物质的批准，因为风险被认为大于收益。从2025年12月15日起，含二甲基氯的物质将立即停止批准，从2025年11月18日起，新西兰可能不再使用。
